What age groups do you cater to?

What is Expression Centered Singing and Sound it Out Singing?

Shelly’s teaching method – called Expression Centered Singing and Sound it Out Singing – is a combinination of techniques from her background in Speech Level Singing. Her approach leans heavily on her responsibility to find what will help the student, which results in the student feeling more confident and less pressured.

Do you offer lessons for other instruments?

Yes! Shelly provides instruction for self-accompanying singers; instruments include piano and guitar. Contact Shelly for specific instrument availability.

Are group lessons available, or are they only private?

Shelly offers private one-on-one lessons, which are better suited to the needs of the individual.

How long are the lessons, and how often do they occur?

Lesson durations range from 30 minutes to an hour and are scheduled on a weekly basis.

What performance opportunities do you provide for students?

Usually students are already performing, and are encouraged to continue to gain valuable experience by participating in musical theater performances, concerts, and ensemble performances.

Do you offer trial lessons?

Shelly does not offer trial lessons; this policy underscores the history of her students’ experience of improvement within the very first lesson. You’ll benefit from her instruction right away.

 Verified I drive over an hour to work with Shelly and it is always worth it. Whether its for 30 minutes or 1 hour. After a few short weeks of working with her I have already auditioned and received multiple callbacks for professional productions in New York and other professional theaters because of her. I moved to the bay area looking for THE best vocal instructor possible to help me with my vocal and acting career.  Verified I've been Shelly's student for over a year now. I'm a 25 year old male singer/songwriter and frontman of a Indie/alternative rock band.
